Regal Variety Show!

What a wonderful night everyone had at our Regal Variety Show on 10 June!

Well the months of planning certainly paid off for our Regal Variety Show at the Grove Theatre, Eastbourne on 10 June – which just happened to have been the same day that Prince Phillip was born.

JoJo and Nicky came to WayfinderWoman asking if we’d be interested in having a variety show and we jumped at the chance.  They pulled in lots of favours from their entertainment network and as a result we had a host of talented, committed women who gave up their time to support us.  Sophie kept everyone on track and we had singing, poetry, comedy, book readings, playlets, tap dancing, a live performance artist and woven throughout was a story about women first competing and then coming together to support each other.

Our wonderful fundraising volunteers, led by Nicola Allen also managed to raise monies through the MADL Foundation to  help cover our expenses and gained amazing raffle prizes and lots for our silent auction.  One of the performers also had match funding from her employer for the tickets she helped to sell.  We had a selfie corner where people queued up to have their photos taken with Daniel Craig as James Bond, our very own Queen Elizabeth II and others.  (All cardboard cut-outs of course as Daniel and the Queen were engaged elsewhere.)

It was a sell-out and we had to turn many people away, including our MP, Caroline Ansell.   It just shows that people wanted to have a good night out and feel good about supporting a charity at the same time.

Thanks to all their hard efforts and the generosity of those who came on the night, and supported us in the run up, we managed to raise a whopping £2,700 which will go towards keeping our drop-in centre, the Hub, open.  We need to raise £10K a year to keep it going so this was a fantastic start to our fundraising efforts.  If you want to make your own donation then please use this link.  We are run by volunteers so every £1 raised goes straight towards helping other women.
