If you’re looking for advice and guidance when it comes to changing your career, you’ve come to the right place!

Whether you’ve just started to consider changing, or you’re ready to dive into something new, we’ve put together a few steps you need to consider

Be clear on why you want to change careers:

Reflect on your motivations by asking yourself:

What’s driving me to make this change?

What do I hope to achieve in my new career?

Are there aspects of my current job that I want to avoid in my new role?

Your reasons might include seeking better work-life balance, pursuing a passion, achieving higher income, or finding more meaningful work. Clarifying these motivations will guide your career search and help you stay focused on your goals.

What skills do you have?

Create a list and assess the skills and experiences you’ve gained in your current job. Many of these will be transferable to your new career.

What jobs will you be looking at?

It’s time to research! Head to the internet or speak to a local careers advisor (we can put you in touch if needed), to research potential career paths which best fit you and your experience.

Need more training?

Depending on your new career choice, you might need additional education or training. There’s many online courses and certifications which can support you in taking your next step in your career.

Need more experience?

If you’re lacking experience in your chosen path, why not consider volunteering, freelancing or internships? Depending on what you’re looking to do, each of these will support you in gaining the experience needed to ensure your resume stands out from the crowd.

A career change is a journey that can take time, and may have its challenges, but with determination and the right strategies, you can achieve a fulfilling and rewarding professional life!
