March 22, 2021 | Katie Day

We’ve gone global!

International Women's Day 8 March 2021 was truly an international day for WayfinderWoman. We couldn't travel so we brought the world to us with the amazing Katie Day organising eight brilliant speakers from around the globe talking about the challenge they chose to take on. And now the recordings are online.

Over the three hour seminar we heard first from Baroness Uddin, activist in the House of Lords, from EgyptRania Abdalla, Executive Board Member, IRC Global Executive Search who spoke about how she stopped playing it safe.  Rana Ozseker,  living in Turkey, Managing Partner, RNA-TR, Executive Board Member and Arya Investor at Arya Women Investment Platform who spoke about how the most important thing was balance.

Natasha D’Souza, Sales Manager, Accor Hotels, Mumbai explored how she coped with suddenly managing those who used to be her peers in a country where female stereotypes and prejudices are still strong.  Dr. Anita Davis-DeFoe, CEO, Upshift Global President of the Women’s India Chamber of Commerce and Industry – United States Virgin Islands-India Council helped us think through whether we had a plan or a purpose.

After a short coffee break Anna Segall, CEO, Worldwide Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts spoke about the priorities for them in the next year, Noreen Makosewe from Kenya, CEO, The Radical Leap Company had a nomadic childhood escaping from terror groups and spoke about her vision for her own future and creating a life that she was proud of.  Dr Rhea Jabbour, Legal Consultant for the World Bank, enhancing women economic empowerment, General Counsel for Saradar Group and Professor in Mediation at Saint Joseph University,  too talked about gender discrimination and sexual harassment and how she worked to close the gender gap and help women speak up.  Finally Loverly Sheridan, President Buddy Ambassadors in the USA highlighted the dreams that we had and how to challenge ourselves to remember our dreams when the world tries to subdue them.

And now their talks are on our you-tube channel thanks to one of our wonderful HeforShe champions Roger Prentis.  Use this link for the introductory opening and then take your leisurely time to listen to each speaker with their separate videos on the #IWD2021 playlist.
