A day to celebrate!
We were delighted to be invited by Eastbourne and District Soroptomists to exhibit and speak at International Women's Day on 8 March.
We will be joining a long list of illustrious speakers who will be talking about a wide range of issues relevant to the town and East Sussex as a whole. The day will be celebrating the important role that women play in leadership – particularly relevant in this centenary of (some) women getting the vote in the UK. We can’t wait to hear from Rebecca Taylor, Sussex Downs College who will be talking about Women and Leadership. Then there is Sara Stonor, Vice Lord Lieutenant and Deborah Bedford, Deputy Lieutenant East Sussex. They’ll be tackling the issue of Women in Public Office – in the presence of the female Mayor of Eastbourne Cllr Pat Hearn.
On a more serious note Fiona Melcom from the Samaritans will be educating us on the role of women in suicide prevention and Lorraine McIntyre from the Sophie Hayes Foundation will be addressing the appalling issues of Human trafficiking emphasising survivors not victims. And then Laura Murphy, founder of The WayfinderWoman Trust: will be celebrating the influential women of Eastbourne’s past, revealed by their Heritage Lottery funded Project – The Hidden Women of Eastbourne.
It’s going to be a wonderful day!
